Chinese New Year: The Year of the Dragon!!!

We learned all about Chinese New Year. We had so much fun participating in the year of the dragon.  The students played dominoes (dominoes were created in China).  We made Chinese lanterns, dragons, flags, fireworks and streamers.  We, also, cleaned pennies and put them in red envelopes for good fortune/luck throughout the year.  To celebrate everything we learned about Chinese New Year, our class went on a parade around school with the goodies they made and chanted, “Gung Hay Fat Choy” ("Happy New Year"). On top of all this, we celebrated our 100^thday of school on Tuesday.  We counted to 100, jumped through a hula hoop 100 times, and counted 100 fruit loops (and then ate them).  Yummy!  Then, we made a 100^th day hat to wear around school.  Next week we will learn about Groundhogs Day and talk about the super bowl.
