Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!!

The students had a great time this week learning about Dr. Seuss. We read rhyming stories, watched Horton Hears a Who, played Green Eggs & Ham tic-tac-toe, and created our own rhyming chart. The Foot Book, at home projects, turned out fantastic! On Friday, we celebrated his birthday by making hats & painting our faces like "Cat in the hat"!

Last week we learned about Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad. Students learned that Harriet helped over 300 slaves escape to freedom and that she was the head "conductor" of the Underground Railroad. We also made a class freedom quilt representing the secret form of communication used by many slaves during that time.
